Coleford Town Council is consulted by Forest of Dean District Council (the Planning Authority) for their views on planning applications, which are taken into consideration when decisions are made. The Town’s Planning Committee use the following to come to their comment which is then forwarded to FoDDC: the Local Development Plan including the Coleford Neighbourhood Development Plan (CNDP - see more below); NPPF and their local knowledge with regard to material considerations.
Coleford Town Council is committed to the growth and shaping of the town through the use of the CNDP, where the policies contained reflect the character, culture, environment, economy of the Parish and aim to meet the needs of the community. This Plan was adopted in October 2018, having been passed at referendum, and is monitored yearly in October. It is likely to be reviewed when major changes occur on the ground, when the FoDDC Local Plan is reviewed and is significantly changed, or about every 5 years.
